Introducing four new faces at Sparkol

These four fresh faces belong to the newest members of Team Sparkol. We caught up with our brand new Experience and Audio Directors, Support Adviser and Finance Manager to find out what they're working on, what they're excited about and whether they have an alien invasion contingency plan.

Rich

Experience Director

[/column] [/row]

What did you do before you joined Sparkol?

I was the Creative & Experience Partner at a digital agency I founded and sold on.

And what are you going to be doing now you’re here?

I’m going to be working closely with the design and comms teams to help make VideoScribe even better.

I’ll be helping to develop a design culture that allows us to explore new products that really bring our vision of ‘engage your audience’ to life in exciting and unexpected ways.

Sounds great. What’s been the best bit so far?

Getting to know the team behind the product. The company is filled with experts in their fields of interest. Their passion and energy is infectious meaning you can’t help being excited about what’s possible.

What excites you about working here?

I’m excited to see how far VideoScribe can be pushed by our users to create extraordinary results. I’m looking forward to talking to our users and hearing how it can make a difference to people’s day-to-day working lives.

Sparkol is a place that encourages invention, and I can’t wait to embrace that and see how we can imagine different ways of engaging audiences.

Most importantly... would you rather have a pet dragon or a tiny snail that can talk?

If I had to choose one I’d go with the snail. Dragons are a bit big and smelly, but a talking snail could be fun if it’s got a wicked sense of humour...

Alex

Audio Director

[/column] [/row]

What did you do before you joined us?

I was making sample packs and programming synthesizers, producing oodles of dance music sounds from house and techno to trap, DnB and everything in between.

Do you have any secret skills?

It's not much of a secret but I'm really good at making hot sauce. I could tell you the recipe but I'd have to kill you.

Just bring some in, that'll be fine! What are you going to be doing while you’re here?

Anything and everything to do with sound. We're going to be exploring how to engage audiences using the power of audio as well as visuals. Along with some other top secret things that are even more secret than my chilli sauce.

Go on, tell us a what you're working on…

It's top secret! You'll find out in a couple of months though.

Do you have a alien invasion contingency plan?

Depends on the type of alien – if they had acid blood and extra mouths I'd probably just cower a lot. If it was the small guys with big eyes I'd try and find a use for them... maybe get them elf costumes.

Dan

Support Adviser

[/column] [/row]

You've been at Sparkol for a few months now, Dan, but what were you doing before?

I worked for a church based in Bristol helping run community events, doing a bit of speaking and caring for people pastorally.

Do you have any secret skills?

I make a mean frittata and love to play the guitar.

Nice! What’s been the best bit so far?

Lunch! Also working as part of a great team, and getting to speak to and help customers with their scribes!

What’s your breakfast of choice to get you ready for supporting our users?

Weetabix. And a lot of coffee.

And if you could live as a historical figure for the day, who would it be?

Probably someone like Christopher Columbus or Neil Armstrong – I love the idea of exploring new places.

Heather

Management Accountant

[/column] [/row]

What did you do before you joined us?

I've been at home for the last four years, enjoying time with the children and renovating our house. My last jobs were as the accountant for a market research company and Space NK.

What are you going to be doing while you're here?

Making sure the numbers are correct.

Very important! If your house was on fire, what three things would you save?

I would save my children – Ben and Sam – and some photos.

What attracted you to working here?

Definitely the people.

And finally... if you could turn into any animal at will, what would you choose?

A giraffe – just so I could be the tallest in the room for once!

Fancy working with these four? Keep an eye on our jobs page for updates.
