We bothered some of the busy bods at Sparkol to find out exactly what they're working on. We bet you can't guess. Read on to find out what's coming up for VideoScribe – and beyond.
Jon, founder and technical architect
We'll be adding loads of great new features to VideoScribe over the next six months. For the first time, you'll be able to create charts and data, add sound effects to elements, create and edit your own SVGs in-app and build custom characters so you can personalise your scribes even further.
We'll be providing more drawing styles, output options and faster rendering to give you greater control over the finished video.
We're also developing brand new tools to help you create awesome videos (more on that later...).
Justin, product development
Our aim at the moment is – Faster! Stronger! Better! Over in product development we're making huge effort to optimise every aspect of VideoScribe. We're developing faster search and browse functions, introducing loads of performance enhancements and blasting those pesky bugs.
Our main focus has been on stability and usability but we've also added some fantastic new features so we're all very excited to get version 2.0.2 out there!
Kate, creative team
I've been busy creating tons of new images for the 'People' library. You'll get access to over 400 new characters in a variety of poses and expressions. We're making the image library more diverse so you'll find people of different nationalities and ages.
You can easily combine these new characters into groups to interact with one another, and there's a good mix of business and casual to choose from.
Thank you to everyone who gave us feedback about what you wanted to see in the image libraries!
Elliot, product development
My main project at the moment is creating a sound effects system for VideoScribe. This will let you make your own sound effects to go alongside any element in a scribe.
You'll be able to do things like add a ringing sound to a phone image so it goes off just as the image moved onscreen. You could even add the sound a pen drawing or a crowd cheering when an element appears screen.
Jonny, training and support
Thanks to your feedback in the Community forum , we've added a quick start guide to VideoScribe 2.0.2 to help new users find their way around the canvas. If this works well we plan to add more in-app guides to make it easier for you to get help when you need it.
Suneeta, finance
My main focus right now is working on changing the payments system to make it more straightforward for you to manage your payments and see your bills.
We think it should be as easy as possible for you to upgrade, cancel or amend your payment details when it comes to your subscription.
Dan, product development
I've been working on the mobile versions of VideoScribe – taking on the feedback from our users and making sure the iPhone and iPad apps are thoroughly debugged.
With Android it was especially important to make sure that the app would be easy for users to control on a variety of different sized devices. With these changes in place I'm pleased to announce that the first releases of 2.0 for Android and Kindle Fire are available to download on the Google play and Amazon app stores.
Oh, and they're both completely free!
We've let them get back to work now, but you can find out more on Twitter.
