Moving around the canvas
The VideoScribe canvas is actually really really big. You can zoom in and out and move around it – here’s how you can use it best…
Once you have a picture or a text on the screen, you can zoom in and out and around the canvas. It’s massive! Think of all the possibilities!
Click on the item you want to move or edit – you’ll know it’s selected because the edit box appears on screen and an orange line is around the image or text. See here…
If you don’t see this then a quick route is… click on the ‘organise‘ icon at the bottom on the left and select the item you want to edit in in the list – then it’s selected.
When your item is selected then you can click your item and move it or enlarge it to wherever you want it to be. If you want to move the item then don’t touch the nodes around the edge but if you want to enlarge it then use the nodes to resize it.
If you want to make sure you’re seeing your image or text from a specific viewpoint when it’s being drawn, then click on the camera in the editing box and click ‘set‘ when you have it in the position you want it on the canvas. You can always clear or change that later if you dont like it.
When you want to move around the canvas, make sure no image or text is selected or you’ll be moving them and not the canvas. Use your usual finger gestures to zoom in and out and around.

Love the app.
I had a soundtrack playing while it was recording from the menu that came with the app but it didn’t get transferred to youtube?
How do I fix that?
Thanks,
Jim
Hi Jim, love the scribe.
That’s really strange about the loss of sound. There’s an update out soon which deals with sound in a much better way. Are you using an iPad1 or 2?
Thanks for the support,
Suzi

Hello,
Is there a way to make VideoScribe behave as though we have layers on the screen? By that I mean if there is a way to ‘send things to back’ or ‘bring them to front’ as it is possible with other drawing software. I’ve experienced that playing with size, and the position of objects on the screen (i.e. layering) adds depth to the scene on the screen and make things look really cool. I’ve tried playing with sizes but then I haven’t been able to move objects or text in front of other objects unless I import them again so they are position at the end of the frame strip that shows at the bottom of the screen.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Hi there. Next to the properties in the event list you can move around the order the elements are drawn – currently this also links the display order. This is a limitation but does make it very easy to understand what’s going on. In a future version we will seperate out the too but for the moment this is a restriction. In the latest build you can output to PNG sequence that creates transparent output – so you can output elements of a scribe seperately and then combine them in After Effects or other post production software to layer elements how you want… a bit complicated but a work-around we use sometimes for producing more complex scribes.
