Speech bubble & rubbing out

Have a look at a video that highlights how to use the ‘rubbing out’ style.

(These are all genuine quotes by the way – thank you again for all your support & encouragement)

You can get to the assets I used here:
Download Scribble out
Download Speech bubble

You can either download and import these or use the world wide web icon on the add image screen and paste in these URLs to add the images to your scribe.

When importing the PNG speech bubble, I chose not to trace and increased the image quality to 1600px. The scribble was rotated and stretched for each quote to give a slightly different effect. There yours for free!

I drew the speech bubble myself and am pretty proud of it! Will be interested to see what you create using this idea.

Here’s how to import the ‘Scribble out’ element via URL:

From the Canvas, select ‘Add an image to the canvas’:

From this point select the Globe icon (Web URL):

If you now enter http://www.sparkol.com/videoscribe/downloads/scribbleout.svg in to the search bar and press ‘OK’, you will now have the Scribble out element on your canvas!:

Marketplace coming soon…

We have had a large number of requests for people to either create assets or whole VideoScribe videos for them.

Although all users love the app some want the video produced professionally rather than creating their own scribes – sometimes this is because they want something extra-ordinary, sometimes the artwork is very bespoke but often they just want someone to arrange the voiceover, music and scribe in a polished way where they don’t have to do any work. We have other users who want a series of illustrators in a particular style produced for them…

So we’re launching a market place at the end of the month. This will put both Video Producers and Illustrators in touch with clients who want a scribe video.

We’re making the service free to users, but charging a small fee to suppliers to be listed.

If you’re interested in being listed please complete the form at

http://www.sparkol.com/marketplace

- those listed when this service launches will guarantee maximum exposure!

Two new Pro libraries…

Comments Off

Coming to the desktop version for Pro users are two new character libraries…

One of the things I like about these libraries is that they help show some of the possibilites of VideoScribe – with both “bitmap” (non-vector) textured fills and a colouring-in style used.  These effects are very easy to do in Illustrator and Inkscape when creating artwork for VideoScribe.

Blowfish experiment

We’re about to have a bank holiday weekend and that Friday feeling started this morning with this little experiment.  I simply loaded a custom hand of a person blowing a straw, tried to record some blowing sounds and this is the result… What can you create that looks completely different to anything else you’ve seen produced in VideoScribe?

Let us give you a hand… or 10!

New Hand Pack Available for Download now

We’ve just released version 1.2.4 and to go with it, if your a Sparkol Pro user you can import a pack of hands. Here’s a quick how to video…

You will need to make sure you have downloaded the latest VideoScribe Desktop from
http://www.sparkol.com/downloadVideoScribePC.php
or
http://www.sparkol.com/downloadVideoScribeMac.php

Then download the hand pack here…
http://www.sparkol.com/downloadHandPack1.php

You’ll need to save this file locally, then run the latest version of VideoScribe, click on settings, then Hands, then Import Hands.  You can then select this file and 10 new hands will be added to your VideoScribe install.

When you download the file you will need to make sure it saves as handpack1.vshand. Some computers will want to save it as handpack1.zip, if this is the case simply change the file name to handpack1.vshand and this will now save correctly.

Please note that you may need to ‘show hidden file extensions’ in the file options if it doesn’t say ‘zip’ or any other file extension on the end, to access the new save options.

As always, any problems, just get in touch support@sparkol.com

Use any image to draw your scribe

Comments Off

Go on… lend us a hand.  You can put any image, hand, pen, graphic as the image that draws your scribe.  This is another feature in the recent 1.2 release.  Once you have set-up a hand you can use it again and again in other scribes adding even more uniqueness and style to your work.  In this example I (very badly) cut out a picture of my eldest daughters hand as she draws the alphabet…

Better Bitmaps: Lovely Lines…

So in the release today (version 1.2) one of the new things you’ll find is that we’ve rewritten the Bitmap import so that it traces about 3,000 times faster and about 1,000 better!  Take a look at this video

New Pen anyone?

With the ‘use your own hand’ feature coming in just a few days, I just created this scribe in just a few short mins & published to YouTube.  Imagine the possibilities…

Use any old hand in VideoScribe – being released later this week, exclusively on the Sparkol Pro VideoScribe Desktop, an update that will let you draw your scribe with anything – a floating pen, your hand, a models hand, maybe your childs hand?  I think we should offer a prize for the most create thing used to draw your scribe…

(This is my hand by the way)
