How to make you’re own svg’s…

We use illustrator but there are other programs available to make your own .svgs which is the format the images need to be in VideoScribe.

Here is how to make them as effective as the ones in our library…

Firstly…

The image needs to be drawn with a simple stroke – either with the pencil or the pen tool. If you draw the line with the brush tool, illustrator will expand it on saving and there wont be a stroke in the file for VideoScribe to draw

Secondly…

If you want to draw with the brush like we have done in the image below then all you have to do is put a  stroke behind it and make the opacity zero.

I usually copy the brush stroke and paste it behind. Then I make the line ‘basic’ and take off the brush effect so that it will draw in VideoScribe. When using this technique ensure that the thickness of the stroke covers the entire brush – anything in the image where the path with the stroke exists will be revealed when drawn.

Thirdly…

VideoScribe draws whatever is ‘at the back’ first and finishes with whatever was drawn last or ‘nearest’ the front. Keep that in mind if you’re wanting certain things to be drawn first or last.

Fourthly…

Don’t use links within your .svg file, they wont be brought into VideoScribe so make sure that you use the colours in illustrator rather than textured fills with linked images.

When you publish to YouTube from the VideoScribe app, if you don’t specify any tags, the tag “videoscribe.tv” is used so that YouTube accepts the video.

Today we did a search on YouTube for “videoscribe.tv” and were amazed to find over 230 results.
